It trickles down all the way t the sub, sub, sub components for the parts.
We have almost hourly changes for our parts for the last year and a half.
9:00am customer - "We need 6,000 rotors next week"
We order 6,000 castings.
Our foundry orders enough material for 6,000 pours.
10:00am customer - "We now need only 1,000 rotors next week"
We roll back order to 1,000 castings.
Our foundry cuts back to enough material for 1,000 pours.
11:00am customer (in a panic) - "We need 10,000 rotors next week"
We franticly order 10,000 castings.
Our foundry says there is not a hop in hell of getting material for 10,000 pours since nobody is scrapping cars and they just can't get that much.
And then back down.
Back up
.
down
up
And this is one component of the thousands in a car!
