You can see a lot of those types of fields using a bluetooth OBD2 reader and an app like torque. I use it quite a bit to figure out issues and have a cheap tablet dedicated to using in the shop. Codes a lot of times, are symptoms and not the actual problem. It's kind of like your car saying "my stomach hurts."
