Just too add a data point; sold my FRS, moved to England for work & picked up a 2011 Cayman 2.9 because it was the same price as a 2017 GT86.
The Cayman's 2.9 sounds amazing, pulls beautifully, people seem to love it... but it is very weird getting used to a car with no weight on the front. It's much faster and goes around corners well, but you can't set it on the edge and play with it like the 86. I honestly miss the 86.
Weirdly I've seen hardly any '86s at the trackdays here in UK, they don't seem to get much love over here.
