BAck in the 90's the wife bought me the best Sennheiser headphones she could afford for my audio system. Loved them!
When VOIP became the big thing in gaming I found my cheapo gaming headset with mic didn't cut it. The wife came to the rescue with a Sennheiser PC 363D 7.1 surround sound gaming headset. WOW! for a time I was in heaven. However as games improved I found I was losing to people who would sneak up on me. Overall sound was still great but the directionality of sounds and especially soft tones were muddled. A friend suggested Logitech and I went for the, then top of the line, G933 model. It allows me to choose either Dolby or DTS. I discovered, to my enemies dismay, that DTS gives incredible accuracy to sound direction in games like America's Army:Proving Grounds.
YMMV
