I can take the interstate (2 lanes divide hwy, 62 mph) or smaller undivided 2 lane (slower 55mph) home. I know that i am NOT supposed to keep a constant RPM throughout the trip home meaning i will have to vary my speed and shift between 4/5/6 for the drive home. For people that have bought cars out of town, how did you drive/break in your car for the commute home? As well, when did you guys do your first oil change? Did you change the filter as well?

Thanks.
There are a million different theories on this subject.
I drove the break in period in a couple of weeks. Did sort of halfway between the owner manual instructions and the guys that say drive the crap out of it. Didn't worry about speed so much but did vary the revs as much as was practicable without slowing enough people would slam into the back of me.

Oil is much the same. There is no good or bad reasons to do it early. I just stuck to the schedule for that.
