the parts you're reading are in reference to headlamps that typically use butyl rubber as a sealant that can be softened with heat and can be easily opened.


the shorter answer is that there's really no benefit to replacing the lens. lenses aren't sold separate from housings, so one must buy a complete replacement housing anyways. and there's nothing custom/unique/different about the oem tails that justifies the double expense or the labor for the work.
