those were dayton audio nd28f-6. about 4 revisions ago had them in my previous car, was always happy with them. very neutral sounding.

i don't recall that i had any complaints about them, but wanted to try the then-new dayton AMT tweeters. they were tonally flat, with some unspecific oddball reflections from the glass.

after that, i went with the dayton point-source ps95-8 3.5" drivers to attempt to bring more midrange presence upwards in the sound stage. kept it it that way for quite a while, either age or time (either the equipment or my ears) made it seem like they lost some brilliance that i was suddenly craving on the high end.

so the most recent change is to peerless xt25sc90-04 ring radiator tweeters. they've got the brilliance i was looking for, with the smoothness of the daytons. i'm happier with the peerless over the AMT's, and the point sources. for now
