Locate the sound with a stethoscope, careful of rotating parts with anything dangling! A rod issue is a very pronounced knock. Most likely you are hearing the HPFP on the driver side head. It is driven off the intake cam and can be noisy. You may just be extra sensitive to noise being that you had a spun bearing already.
