No, I don’t think that’s what being said. leave the header bolted down to the block and loosen the front pipe bracket. Then you can shove the whole exhaust forward to mate up with the header. Unbolting the muffler can help too, you can realign the muffler and bolt it back up after taking care of the upstream connections.
