A lot of the enemies are pretty easy, but the game encourages you to use your shield and roll to evade attacks. You also have to use Atreus (Companion) to navigate around harder to hit enemies. It is a hack and slash game in essence, but is not the smartest idea to just smash buttons and run around. I would say is a lot like Dark Souls 1 in terms of combat, but with a narrative story added to it. Equipment is essential, and though exploration is not encouraged by the game itself you'll find it highly rewarding if you do.
