I installed one in my old 17 BRZ myself. As others have mentioned, I didn't see a difference in the length of travel between gears, but the feel was much improved. Just much more crisp and succinct. I think it lessens the shift distance by like, 3mm or something crazy small.

As to the physical height difference, it was negligible, if any at all (maybe i just didnt notice).

Now, for the install, the hardest part was not ripping that rubber boot/cover thingy that goes around the link. I ripped it the first time and had to use the oem one that came with the original shifter (was the same size). Otherwise, install is a breeze. I will be doing the same thing to the 2022 once I get it.
