I hope I’m wrong and that Subaru/Toyota sells the new engines for more reasonable prices ala spec Miata motors through Mazda’s racer support program.

I assumed the motor was from a wreck. I'm assuming the swap itself with a "free" motor will still cost an arm and a leg. Probably a few fingers too. It's not like a 90s Honda where literally everything bolts up and you just have to swap a couple connectors.
