I'd definitely go that route, but not behind the grill... that makes cleaning them a royal nuisance.
Take the OE grill off the car, 3d scan the full unit, and then design an opening in each lower corner with the appropriate mounting tabs to have a pair of light (something like
THESE) correctly mounted and angled.
