I don't know how well the plastic bag would hold up for thirty years in a dingy cellar. Probably no worse than the plastic corks that have replaced the real ones.
We are not wine drinkers and have no clue about it but had (past tense) a bunch around behind the bar for several years. At Christmas time we had a friend over that works at the liquor store and she started looking at the half dozen or so bottles we had. She said we better check them since we stored them all standing up. Apparently that is a bad bad idea. The ones with corks were all a wonder vinegar. The one with a screw cap was the only one that was still even remotely good.
