Thermals are similar. The BM4 has a significantly stiffer caliper, which leads to better pedal feel and a much higher resistance to radial taper wear.

The best illustration is how much larger the BM4 is compared to the OEM PP, while using the same dimension rotor and pad shape.

The BM4 can also use thicker pads than OEM.
