Yes there was no manual option for both cars and Alfa Romeo didn't have an established market in US, but at least they were better options than hoping Porsche to build a car that does not exist and chances are will never exist with the current move to EVs. In fact the A110 was the French answer to the Italian 4C, but Renault didn't bother to join the US market after the low sales of their Italian counterpart. So, don't blame them they didn't offer Alpine to you at all. I'll also kindly disagree about the non-well established record of French manufacturers on building sports cars. They are at least the same competent to the German manufacturers and in some areas they are even better. Problem is more political and which countries are promoted economically after WWII (i.e. Germany in Europe), but I won't get more into such details.
