I'd think a $10k-15k price increase over a standard Corolla would make sense to cover the R&D costs associated with making the GR-Four drivetrain. How much more did the EVO cost over the standard Lancer? And they were using an engine they've already had for years.

The GR Yaris platform uses the Corolla rear end I believe. For the most part they were probably testing this car in rookie racing
