The reviews were just as good at the start of 2013 release.
The whole "it is too slow" and "the XXX is way better" didn't show up until later.
Let's remember that the second gen cars are an improvement but every other car has improved in the last 8 years as well. The Twins did not not get better in isolation so whatever was "faster", "more practical" or whatever then would still apply now.
