Well, I hear tell the spring is hooked into the clutch arms under the dash and it assists the clutch in being pushed down (or returning).
Now, the screen door sound thing came from my friend Bubba. Yes, his single-wide mobile home has a screen door -
I have never seen that spring myself ...... because, if I ever were to get my head under the dash, someone would have to call for a "jaws of life" to get me out.
