I had some time to check the European's reviews. Overall, there was much more technical information and some of it was quite interesting. First of all, the cylinder liners are thinner so it will be a question how much power the engine can handle going FI. First generation "issue" was the offset connecting rods and now with a back to normal rod design new "issue" will be the thinner liners? Another odd thing is the top speed which remains the same with the previous model. Is it electronically limited (really?) or is the new engine a bit weak top end? Finally, it was mentioned that it'll be offered as a single spec option meaning that we won't get anymore the 86 RC or BRZ RA Japan specs. The first generation BRZ RA spec was available in Europe and you could have a 35 kg lighter car (1202 kg). Compared to the new car weight difference is even bigger in the range of ~70 kg. Torque in new car definitely helps, but it would be better if weight was the same.
