the factory amp has filtering built into that makes it only amplify low frequencies. so it's not compatible without some extreme internal circuit board modification that's much more complex than installing an aftermarket amp.

there's a thread in the car audio section where one guy started digging into what it'd take, but we all sorta lost interest in it because it's not just a simple bypass, and requires significant circuit board work..

you can power these off a factory or aftermarket radio by splicing into the speaker wires just behind the radio. but using an amplifier is what i generally prefer to get the best sound of upgraded speakers.
