I fully understand the OP's concern about power loss at altitude. It is real and can be a pain. The issue is this constant whining that they don't make the car specifically to his desires. They built a car that was asked for. Yes it is lower powered than some out there but that is what the "enthusiasts" said they wanted. This whole "everybody wants more power", "it would be cheap and easy for them to do it" and "I shouldn't have to resort to aftermarket to get what I want" crap get's old really fast. If the car doesn't suit you and you don't want to change it just move on to one of the existing options. There are several but then the list of excuses just change anyway.
Oh and while I am ranting, this whole "they won't make it more powerful because they don't want to cut into Supra sales is simply one of the stupidest things put into print. They don't care which one they sell since a sale is a sale. If this was even remotely true they wouldn't make several trim levels of each car. Why build 6 trim levels of the Corolla? Won't the sales from the L cut into the XSE? Just make the top trim and make everybody buy that! Boy, Toyota is dumb.
