So Im thinking about changing the suspension, but makes me a bit scared because CT doesn't have the best roads, and I don't necessarily NEED to lower the car, I don't track the vehicle. Is mostly spirited driving on back roads. But now I can't unsee those gaps......

You might think about taller tires and/or larger diameter wheels. Will fill up the gap without lose of ground clearance or friggin' with alignment, camber etc.
