Grand Bend was definitely interesting. To start, the morning sessions were cool and dry. Managed to chip away at my times getting more comfortable with the car and taking a few friends for ride alongs. Then without a passenger, I was able join the sub 1:16 club on Technical with a 1:15.900 while chasing down a Veloster N.
After lunch it started raining right as my group was going out, and while putting around on a warm up lap waiting for oil to come to temp I caught some water and ended up parking the car in the wall.
To start,
I am okay and my passenger is okay. We hit the wall at about 30 kmh backwards. The damage looks a lot worse than it is, the trunk will be pulled out this winter and sealed up, and the bumper skin is going back on. Tail light, wheel + tire, trunk, muffler, and suspension are all okay. Honestly, I am most upset about the exhaust tip as I quite like the sound of the Blitz. I'm not really sad or angry that it happened, I knew(and now know first hand) the risks of going to the track and if I wasn't willing to accept them I would not go.
2022 plans are to fix up the car and push for a low 1:15 Technical, and a 0:58 on mod.
