They lower your chances of incubating enough virus to spread it. They lower the amount of time you are infected. They reduce the amount of time between infection and immune response so you know something is up earlier. Not all benefits are absolute. Statistically significant reduction in spread is a huge benefit by itself. It's a war of attrition at this point and folks who don't get the vaccines have decided they prefer swords to belt fed machine guns.
