You know how that "sandwiching" got started. This dawned on me as I laid awake on the top bunk in WW II Army "T buildings", looking at the ceiling.

The Army quartermaster corps was in charge of ordering materials. Some G-4 type entered the wrong number of 2x4s on the order form and no lumber any larger.

So the strategy "improvise" kicked in and they ordered the Corps of Engineers to just glue the 2x4s together and build the fucking "T" buildings!

Yep, I reckon it happened just that way. -
