Pull the BPV. Press the spring/lever in and then plug the vac line with your finger. It should not pop out.

You can also test it by hooking a brake bleeder/ hand vaccum pump up the the bypass valve, pump it to your vac pressure (12-15lbs) it should pull in the lever. Then watch the gauge to see if it holds pressure or and the needle doesn't move over a few minutes.
