Well, update on my doorbell situation. After a few people telling me it won't be the transformer that's causing my issue, I went ahead and got a new chime. Didn't work. Found and ordered a new Nest Chime Connector. Didn't work. Got fed up and installed the transformer I got before replacing everything else. Chime works!
