No need - it takes everything off cold or hot. Lightyears faster/easier than doing it with a hand scraper.
To be honest I stopped scraping long ago and just scrub the tires. The only thing you HAVE to pay attention to is technique because if you don't pay attention you go into the rubber of the tire - but outside of using it "wrong", it's super to have if you're going to be doing this often (like every weekend).
