I'm not reading through this whole thread but I think the Z is in a good spot and a great option out there. Great place between the Supra and above the BRZ/GR86
I also want to add that if you plan on boosting your BRZ or 86, you're basically gonna be spending close to another 10K anyways.
The BRZ/GR86 is starting at 30K
Nissan Z starts at 40K
The Supra start at 50K
