I like it and want it but I need to know if this would be a good buy also what other items would I need to buy if I wanted to install this short block. I have my old engine still but I need to know what I need to buy and what can be used from my old engine.
That's just the block, what if there's head damage? If your "mechanic" can't tell you what parts you need or what's wrong with the engine, it's time to find a new mechanic. Hope you didn't pay him for a diagnosis when he didn't diagnose anything.

Think about this too, you're paying labor to take the engine out, and if you buy just a short block, you have to pay them to make sure the heads are fine, then swap over the heads, and get it timed right. Sure you save on parts but pay more on labor. And plus, is your mechanic good on boxer engines?

If you buy a full long block, the labor is much less because they just pull out and swap in the new engine, but the part cost will be much more.
