It's just not that complicated. Something like forward speed increasing as long as I hold the stick or the 'forward key'. If I let off, the acceleration should stop, but it should maintain speed. If I brake, etc, it should slow down. That would be way more playable.

Your character driving skill will increase the more you drive, at the beginning it does suck, and overall driving in GTA V is so wacky, but it does slightly better the more time you spend on a vehicle.
