Why?
The springs primarily have to deal with sprung mass (body), especially when it comes to handling (as opposed to handling bumps).
We don't change suspension spring rates when we change wheels/brakes, right?

I wouldn't spend too much time drawing conclusions based on the lap times mentioned in early "shallow" reviews.
If the same driver was only doing a few laps in these cars and on a given day, the difference could just be due to
a) the driver progressively adjusting to the track, power level and grip
b) weather conditions changing throughout the day
c) tire wear and heat throughout the day (I believe the cars were shared between many people?)
Pretty sure in apples-to-apples comparison the difference in lap times between same-transmission cars
will be negligible for most beginner-to-intermediate track drivers.
