Didn't realize the Japanese invented carbon fibre 2000 years ago.




That's called the 'seikaiha' pattern (also 'seigaiha'), meant to evoke the ocean's waves. I'll give you your point about how it looks carbon fibre-ish for the passenger side dashboard trim, but the instrumentation cluster is clearly this same pattern as seen above.
