Why would 3D printing metal matter?
F.I. = Fuel Injection. Some newer cars incorporate that methodology instead of a carburetor, mostly based on the government's recommendations after some studies showed that Amercans were consuming too many carbs. Our cars, sadly, are still a carb-rich unhealthy environment, so finding a way to directly inject badly needed fuel for instantly accessible energy instead of relying on slow-burning carbs (found primarily in the large servings of torque dip consumed while driving our vehicles) is just one of many ways to increase your car's longevity and overall health.

Also, you need 3D printing metal because otherwise your exhaust idea would only work in two dimensions; driving up or downhill while simultaneously turning would cause your 2D printed metal parts to enter a dimension they were never intended to enter. Additionally, you can't possibly annoy people around you enough with 3D printed jazz, fusion, Baroque, or Opera. It needs to be metal.
