Ugh. So much work drama.
One of our sales guys, started here the same time I did, just up and quit. Text our sales manager and said he wasn't coming in unless he got a pay raise. He also complained he doesn't see any more opportunity for advancement. Now we have had a terrible last two years due to covid. I want a raise too and have gone far beyond my duties but at this point I am just happy to have a job that pays the bills and for my hobbies. We have also had a vacant manger position for 18 months in a department he has tons of previous experience in. He could have waltzed down there, set up shop, and nobody would have batted an eye at it and would probably be given that department by now.
Our production line supervisor has also decided to quit, though he had the balls to at least talk to our GM about it. He also wants more money because "he hasn't gotten a raise in 20 years." It has really been like 10, we started profit sharing in 2010 which has averaged out to about a 30-40% pay increase for most people here. His son was fired a couple years ago and went on to start his own auto repair shop. It is really him who does 90% of the work. He thinks he can make more money doing that though I think he is not realizing he is going to have to pay medical insurance and taxes himself. We pay medical 100%. He is 56 and not that far from retirement, which we also pay 100%.
Of course all this has gone on and our GM hasn't explained anything to anyone. So all other staff members are wondering why they haven't seen these two guys in a couple weeks
