Back in my youth I probably help my dad recover 5 or 6 old cars and trucks just like in this video. Then as a teen my buddies and I did another 10 or so. There were a lot of "oh just ignore that" or "It's fine" said.
There were cars with completely seized engines that were would break loose and get running right there in the field or barn and then drive with little or no brakes and rotted tires for miles to my dad's shop. We of course would throw a rope between it and another vehicle to say it was "in tow" but I doubt that would have fooled anybody if we had ever got caught.
Most of the ones we did that sat for decades were from the 40 or 50s of course (since it was the late 60s and early 70s). Did at least a couple of early 60s cars that had sat for 10 or so years but they were usually still in decent shape. At least mechanically.
Probably go to jail if we tried moving them like that now.
