In the US, almost all states manufacture their plates using prison labor. There are other products also created by prisoners in quantity, usually for government use or programs, including:

Braille Books for the Blind
Furniture, Park Benches, Picnic Tables, etc
Silhouette practice range targets for law enforcement (PAPER people PAPER)
Baseball Caps
Horses (they break and train them)
airplane parts and missile harnesses
military clothing, including bullet proof vests

There's even one group of of SC inmates that spent some time in the 90's making Victoria Secret lingerie.

(Full disclosure, I did some research on this a few years back when a relative was in prison on an assault charge and he was paid to make braille books. It got my curiousity up.)
