I feel like they knew what looks good, but couldn't put the effort (or more likely didn't want to put the cost) into integrating it into the lower grille black plastic. It's the only major gripe I have with the BRZ, to be honest.
On the 86 I'm not a fan of the little growths that lead into the side air ducts, and how massive the grille is on the front.
I wonder what sort of solution the aftermarket will come up in regards to that; I might have to see them in person and see what the aftermarket has in store if I still have gripes with either of them.
