Without access to the rest of the WSJ article, the rest of the author's argument cannot be evaluated. As it stands, Dr. Elbright's statement undercuts the main premise of the WSJ piece. Assuming you ARE a subscriber to the WSJ and you HAVE read the whole piece carefully, perhaps you would be kind enough to reproduce it here so the rest of us can evaluate it as well.
Second, while the origins of the virus are indeed a subject of intense interest, what specifically does that question have to do with vaccination?
