Virtually every media has been and can be used to manipulate the population.
I just also know some people think all media is working together behind the scenes.

The goal of all media is spoon feeding people their own interests, so they (the media) can get attention. The media could be used as a medium for propaganda, but that only serves the media best if they are directly reimbursed for their service or if that propaganda stimulates interest, so there is a feed forward effect that gets them more attention. Most of the time, money is king, and attention from viewers will outweigh alternative motives or payouts, but not always.
I am guilty of blaming the media like others have, but in hindsight, it is hard to blame the media for not providing accurate information when accuracy is not their goal; their goal is entertainment by providing their audience with content their audience wants to see, so these media sources can maximize attention, which makes them money of course.
I would be far more upset if a non-profit, research group, government agency, scientific publication, etc was maliciously providing false information. Unfortunately, these sources are not easily and quickly digested by the masses, so we have the "news", and we, the waiting parishioners, allow the pulpit to dictate through a filter what we want to hear most (religious reference, so everyone can feel warm and fuzzy with familiarity). It reminds me of a V for Vendetta line, "...but again, truth be told, if you are looking for the guilty, you need only look in the mirror." I think we all know we live in a world of digital echo-chambers, so we need to look for the sources of information (for the actual data), and we need to branch outside of our comfort zones and safe places for perspectives that are alternative to our own. If we don't then we only have our self to blame.
