Considering you still need to add main bearings, head studs, and main bolts which are 260ish and 425ish from ARP, along with gaskets. If you are not doing it yourself add labor too, buying a built short block is pretty close in price.

If your engine is in decent shape you could still sell the short block and recoup a good chunk of money.
