No, you didn't. RNA and mRNA do the work, in this case protein making. DNA issues the instructions. What the vaccine does is to use mRNA to carry an alternative instruction set - to create a new protein. The new protein aids in the body's being able to respond to the virus.

You are claiming the article says things it does not say. Does RNA/mRNA copy instructions from DNA? Yes. Does the vaccine use mRNA to get cells to carry out a new set of instructions to create a different protein? Yes. Does the vaccine use RNA/mRNA to alter DNA itself? No! And the neither the piece you cite nor the discussion from Moderna say that. To get to the conclusions you draw requires inferences that are supported by neither.

Can DNA be altered? Certainly. That's what CRISPR and newer tools for gene editing do. Are these vaccines variations on these gene editing tools. I think not. As a person of science in a different field I learned a long time ago to be careful stating absolutes. I cannot say with absolute certainty that I or this science are right. I can say with a high degree of confidence, however, that you and others making these sorts of specious claims are wrong.

That worries me because we are living in what seems to be post-truth unreality. If we are to achieve something approaching herd immunity a substantial majority of the population will need to be vaccinated. Attempts to scare people away from vaccination makes that significantly more difficult. I've known three people who have died from this virus and well over two dozen friends and acquaintances of good friends who have lost their lives. That is far, far too many.
