Where did you read that? Do they look like they're that different in diameter? Pretty easy to find diameters of tire sizes, most manufacturers publish them and Tire Rack also gives them.
Also, 215/35-18 sidewall height is 215*0.35 and 225/35-18 sidewall height is 225*0.35 so the difference is 10*0.35 or 3.5mm, so height difference is 7mm which is a long way from 2" (51mm).
Should be running 40 aspect ratio, not 35, to be near stock diameter. Also, Tire Rack shows only one tire available in both these sizes, are you sure these are the sizes you run?
Anyway, the one tire they have has 23.9" for 215/35-18 and 24.2" for 225/35-18. 0.3" difference in diameter, not 2".

No. For one thing 0.3"/2, or 0.15" over the 101" wheelbase is small, and for another if you *raise* then end of he car with the smaller-diameter tires you'll double the additional wheel gap at that end which will look more awkward.
