There was a thread on Reddit about a woman complaining that a dealership wouldn't sell her a car. Apparently, she was looking at a fully loaded CUV costing around $36K, but she couldn't get financing. She was offered a lower trim, but refused and proceeded to take to the internet to complain about her experience.

For $14K, you can have a https://www.chevrolet.com/cars/spark that comes standard with apply carplay and android auto, USB ports, 10!!! Airbags!!!, and rear camera.

But yea, people on a budget don't want a small, inexpensive hatch that will do 99% of what they need. They want a fully loaded CUV or truck that they should never, ever think about buying.
