Whenever it snows, find an empty (curbless!) parking lot, turn off traction control, and have at it.
You'll learn a lot more about counter-steering, how the car behaves when steering or under heavy braking in low traction, all of which will help you when you're on the road.

Plus it's just damned good fun.

Just make bloody sure there are no curbs or big heavy chunks of wheel well ice frozen solid to the ground!
