That's interesting. Too wide a gap can cause misfires under load as the cylinder pressures increase to the point the coil can't generate enough ooooommph to jump the gap. I'm surprised that too narrow a gap (particularly .03" too narrow) could do that. Glad you got i resolved - that kind of problem can be maddening.
