I'd say that a bent rim isn't necessarily cause for concern (although suspension damage is very likely if the hit was bad enough to damage a rim), but agree 100% with the rest of your points.
An airbag deployment alone is enough to total most older cars and make it not worth it to repair even if insurance isn't involved.
You might be able to get a decent return from somebody looking to make a serious track car - airbags and cosmetics not interesting, suspension gonna be upgraded anyway. Biggest concern would be subframe/frame damage, but hopefully the wheels and suspensions took the brunt of the impact.
