I've had glass top ranges for over 25 years. The Barkeep's Friend or similar is very useful for cleaning. You also need to keep a single edge razor blade around to scrape off the burned on stuff before using the paste. Between those two it shouldn't be an issue to keep it clean and will take care of small scratches.

You can also use baking soda, or toothpaste, and even some metal polishes, but I've found the purpose made ceramic top cleaners to be the best.

I have tried every "normal" method on ours and nothing really worked. Going to order some of the Barkeep stuff and give that a shot.
