There are two things I will address in relation to this statement.
1/ Experts can be wrong. All evidence, papers can be questioned. I have read of a
Nobel Prize winner who went on to make silly claims that were refuted.
2/ A quick search of "covid man made evidence" leads to lots of links saying it is man made and other links saying it is not. I am suggesting the man-made news is more sensational than the refutation.
I have read two articles,
University of London Professor Angus Dalgleish and Norwegian virologist Birger Sorensen conducted the study
and
COVID-19 virus has properties that have never been found in nature before
and both of these articles
link to this paper.
Both articles mention a conclusion that is NOT in the conclusion of the paper. The paper is about vaccination development and from my quick skim through of the paper nothing to do with the claims of the news articles.
My take: misinformation.
Fact check: Coronavirus not man-made or engineered but its origin remains unclear
"
Our ruling: Partly False
We rate the claim that COVID-19 may have originated in a Chinese lab as PARTLY FALSE. Suggestions that the novel coronavirus was manmade or has been engineered for use in bioweapons in a high-security biomedical laboratory in Wuhan, China, are untrue, based on scientific research since the virus began its global spread. Beyond that, however, investigations continue into where COVID-19 began, and no conclusions can be drawn, nor has evidence been presented, that definitively explains the pathogen’s origin. Circumstantial evidence suggests the virus could have escaped from the Wuhan lab due to a lapse in safety measures."
My take: more information from reliable sources required.
In conclusion, I am not saying the your 2 micro biologists are wrong but I am saying the basis for their opinion is unknown.
